what is a boudoir album?

Often referred to as a photo book, a boudoir album is a carefully curated collection of your favorite images from your session, bound into a beautiful book designed to last for years.

Many people love boudoir albums not only because they’re gorgeous, but because they’re private. They’re easy to enjoy quietly, page by page, and just as easy to tuck away when company is over. It’s a personal way to experience your images whenever you want to reconnect with how the session made you feel.

The album shown above gives you a sense of how these pieces live in the real world. They’re meant to be held, opened slowly, and returned to again and again.

When choosing an album, the first decision we’ll make together is size. The album pictured above is a 10×10, which is the most popular choice, but you’ll also have the option to go a little smaller or a little larger depending on how expansive you want your album to feel.

8×8 albums begin with 20 images

10×10 albums begin with 30 images

12×12 albums begin with 40 images

There’s no right or wrong option here. It simply comes down to how you want your images to live on the page.

Once we’ve chosen a size and image count, we’ll take a look at the cover options. The swatches shown above represent just how many textures, tones, and finishes are available.

There are so many options for a reason. Everyone is drawn to a different aesthetic, and your album should reflect your personal style. While I’m always happy to guide you, this is about choosing something that feels right to you, since this is what you’ll be holding and looking at for years to come.

Next, we’ll choose a gilding option to complement your cover. Gilding refers to the design along the edges of the album pages, shown catching the light above.

There are over 30 options to choose from, including classic finishes like white, black, and gold, as well as specialty designs if you want something a little more unique. It’s a small detail, but one that adds a lot of character to the finished album.

Finally, this is where everything comes together. Once your selections are complete and your product or collection is purchased, I’ll design your album using the images you’ve chosen.

You’ll have the opportunity to review and approve the layout before it’s sent to print. All albums are produced by an all-female album company that specializes in heirloom-quality work.

If you have questions about albums, or if you’re ready to book your own boudoir session, you’re always welcome to reach out through the contact form to schedule a complimentary consultation call.

I can’t wait to hear from you.
