A Gentle Guide to Preparing for Your Boudoir Session

As your boudoir session approaches, my hope is that you feel supported, confident, and at ease long before you step into the studio. This self love checklist was created as a simple guide, offering small, intentional ways to reconnect with yourself in the weeks leading up to your session.

There’s no pressure to do everything here. Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t, and move through it in a way that feels right for you.

Three to Five Weeks Before Your Session

• If you haven’t already, begin shopping for outfits. If you have, take a little time to finalize the details, such as jewelry, shoes, or any meaningful accessories you’d like to include.
• If you plan to wax, go ahead and schedule your appointment. Waxing is best done about four to five days before your session so the skin has time to settle.
• Start moisturizing daily to help your skin feel soft and comfortable.
• Gentle stretching and staying well hydrated can help with flexibility and overall comfort during posing.
• Begin practicing small moments of self kindness. Standing in front of the mirror and offering yourself one compliment each day can feel awkward at first, but it often makes a quiet, meaningful difference.
• If you’re considering a haircut or color refresh, schedule it now so everything has time to settle naturally before your session.

Two Weeks Before Your Session

• Finalize your outfit choices. If you’d like a second opinion, you’re always welcome to send me photos. I’m happy to help you narrow things down.
• Share your upcoming session with someone you trust. Having a supportive voice cheering you on can make the experience feel even more exciting.
• Gently exfoliate your skin to help it feel smooth and comfortable.
• Take a moment to reflect on why you booked this session. A few notes in your phone about what it represents for you can be a powerful confidence boost.
• Plan a small post-session celebration, whether that’s a date night, time with friends, or a quiet evening just for you. It’s a lovely way to carry the feeling forward.

One Week Before Your Session

• Lay out your outfits ahead of time so everything feels easy and organized on session day.
• Be mindful of foods that may make you feel uncomfortable or bloated. If salt tends to affect you, lighter, fresher meals can help you feel your best this week.
• Schedule a manicure and pedicure if you plan to have one. Neutral or soft tones tend to work beautifully with most outfits.
• Stay well hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps your skin look and feel its best.
• Prioritize rest where you can so you arrive feeling refreshed and grounded.

The Day Before Your Session

• Shower, shave if you choose, and moisturize your skin. Avoid lotions with shimmer or SPF, as these can create unwanted shine in photos.
• Pack your bag with everything you’ll need for the studio, including outfits, accessories, water, a robe, and anything that helps you feel comfortable.
• Skip alcohol and go easy on caffeine so you wake up feeling rested and hydrated.
• Take a few minutes to look over any inspiration you’ve saved and allow yourself to feel excited about what’s ahead.

The Morning of Your Session

• Enjoy a light, nourishing breakfast that leaves you feeling comfortable and energized.
• Arrive with clean, dry hair and a makeup free face so your hair and makeup artist can take it from there.
• Wear loose fitting clothing to the studio, such as an oversized button down, soft pants, or a comfortable dress. No bra, no socks, no problem. This helps avoid marks on your skin.
• Take a few minutes to stretch and settle into your body before you arrive.
• Pause for a deep breath and remind yourself why you chose this experience. You’re about to be cared for, guided, and celebrated.

I’m so looking forward to creating something meaningful with you. This experience is about honoring who you are, where you’ve been, and the version of yourself that’s stepping into the studio. Trust the process, stay present, and allow yourself to be taken care of.

If any last minute questions come up, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here for you every step of the way.

See you soon,
Christine
