Men’s Boudoir Prep: The Ultimate Self-Care Guide for Looking & Feeling Your Best
Your boudoir session is coming up, and I want you to feel fully prepared, confident, and stress-free leading up to your big day. To help, I’ve put together a simple self-care guide with small, intentional steps that will help you look and feel incredible.
Of course, this is just a guide; adjust it to fit what feels best for you!
Three to Five Weeks Before Your Session
✅ Shop for outfits if you haven’t already. If you have, finalize the details—think about accessories like watches, jewelry, shoes, or layering pieces like blazers or robes.
✅ Schedule a grooming appointment. If you get haircuts or beard trims, book them now so your look settles in naturally before your session.
✅ Moisturize daily to keep your skin looking and feeling healthy. If you have facial hair, use a beard oil or moisturizer to keep it soft and well-groomed.
✅ Stretch and hydrate. Posing can engage muscles you’re not used to using—staying hydrated and flexible will make a big difference.
✅ Start self-confidence affirmations. Stand in front of the mirror and remind yourself of three things you love about how you look or who you are. It may feel awkward at first, but confidence starts with mindset!
✅ Consider a waxing or manscaping session (if that’s your style). If you plan to wax areas like your chest, back, or eyebrows, schedule it 4–5 days before your session to allow for any irritation to fade.
Two Weeks Before Your Session
✅ Finalize your outfit choices. If you’re unsure, send me a few photos—I’d love to help!
✅ Tell a friend about your session. Having someone hype you up can make the experience even more exciting.
✅ Exfoliate gently. If you don’t already exfoliate, now is a great time to start. Use a mild exfoliator on your face and body 2–3 times a week to remove dry patches and keep your skin looking fresh.
✅ Write a note to yourself. Jot down a few words about why you booked this session. What does this moment mean to you? Reading it before your shoot can be a great confidence booster.
✅ Plan something to do after your session! Whether it’s a night out, a quiet evening in, or treating yourself to something special, decide how you’ll keep the confidence going.
One Week Before Your Session
✅ Lay out your outfits so they’re easy to grab on session day.
✅ Eat fresh, balanced meals. If you’re sensitive to bloating, consider cutting back on extra salty foods in the days leading up to your session.
✅ Get a manicure. Well-groomed hands look great in photos—keep them clean and trimmed.
✅ Prioritize rest. A good night’s sleep leading up to your session will help you look and feel refreshed.
The Day Before Your Session
✅ Shower, shave (if you choose), and moisturize. If you shave, do so with a fresh razor to avoid irritation.
✅ Pack your bag. Bring outfits, accessories, water, grooming products, a robe, or anything else that makes you feel comfortable.
✅ Skip alcohol or excessive caffeine. This will help prevent puffiness, dehydration, and grogginess in the morning.
✅ Review any inspiration photos and get excited for your session!
The Morning of Your Session
✅ Eat a light, balanced breakfast. Something that gives you energy without making you feel too full.
✅ Arrive with clean, dry hair and a fresh face. If you opted for professional grooming, our stylist will take care of any light hair styling and blemish cover-up.
✅ Wear loose-fitting clothing. Avoid anything that might leave marks on your skin, like tight socks, belts, or a watch that fits snugly.
✅ Take a deep breath and remind yourself why you’re doing this. You’re going to look and feel incredible.
